In November 1995, after a short-term medical missions trip to Jamaica, Joy was sitting at the kitchen table reading God’s Word. Suddenly, a choir of voices and instruments surrounded her and a beautiful song was being sung. She was alone in the house! The radio was not on! Excited, and not really comprehending what was happening, Joy began to write the words down. She heard everything; every voice, harmony, instrument. It was truly an amazing experience; one that would change her life completely. Long after the last chorus had echoed through her head, she realized that she had heard directly from the throne room of Almighty God.

Although Joy had sung for many years, she did not write or play music, and required accomplished musicians to play and accompany her vocal selections. While she did have a basic understanding of piano notes and keys, she had always had difficulty in playing and reading music.

“My left hand was just plain stupid!” she laughingly says, “I simply could not play without memorizing because my left hand could not keep up with my right hand! And, never, ever could I play and sing at the same time! It was like rubbing my tummy and patting my head at the same time!”

Rejoicing over what she had heard, she shared with her church family about the song, and sang it accapella at Sunday night service. Everyone was moved by the Spirit of God and in awe of what the Lord had done. Little did they, or she know that this was the beginning of a tremendous gift that Father God was giving to her. Since that time, Joy has ‘heard’ and written down over 400+ praise and worship songs exactly the same way. Above all, she wants the reader to understand that she is not the author, but merely writes them down as she hears them. It is miracle music.

But this is not the end of the testimony! In the Spring of 1999, while praying in the woods near her house, she had a dramatic encounter with Jesus Christ and He spoke to her about the music, telling her that it would be sung and played for the salvation, healing and deliverance of the nations, and that she would be using it around the world for His glory. While this sounded incredible to her, she didn’t see how it was possible. The only time she had ever been out of the country was to Jamaica for that medical missions trip as part of a church team. She asked Father God, “How can I go for you? I don’t play an instrument. I don’t have a worship team. I don’t understand.” Jesus came to her in the woods that day and told her to hold out her hands. Obediently, she did so, and He touched her hands telling her that He was anointing her hands to play every song He had given to her.

Since that day, Joy has been able to play the accompaniment for every song that God has given her. Once unable to play without an accompaniest, she now accompanies herself as the Lord has opened doors for her to sing and be a witness for Him. People stand in awe at her testimony, and just as He foretold, she has traveled around the world, touching the hearts of people in places like India, Australia, Wales, England, Canada and the USA. Thousands have come into the kingdom of God and many more have been physically healed, spiritually changed, and emotionally set free. All praise and glory is given to God.
